How we test a game before writing a word
People sometimes ask how long we sit with a game before reviewing it. The honest answer is: until we understand it. That's usually days, sometimes weeks, and never a single rushed evening.
We try to play on more than one device, ideally an older phone and a newer one, because a game that runs beautifully on flagship hardware can fall apart elsewhere. Those differences end up in the review.
We also track the unglamorous stuff. How hot does the phone get after thirty minutes? How fast does the battery drop? Can you actually reconfigure the controls? These notes rarely make headlines but they change whether a game is worth your time.
Only after all of that does anyone start writing. The goal is a review that tells you how the game feels in your hand, not how it looks in a trailer.
